On December 17, 2007 Mort Keiser passed away with his family at his side.
Born in Philadelphia in 1918, Mort founded Tioga Pipe Supply Co, Inc. in 1946 and built it into an internationally renowned and leading supplier to the global energy industries. Mort was on the Board of Directors of Firstrust Bank, the National Association of Steel Pipe Distributors, the Metal Service Center Institute, Pop Warner, and Plumbers Union Local 690 Metal Trades Division Pension Plan and the Philadelphia Jobbers Association. He was the 1st President of the Men's Club at Main Line Reform Temple.
Mort was a decorated World War II Veteran serving in the Fighting 69th Infantry: He was awarded the Croix de Guerre from the French Government and he twice received the European Medal with Bronze Stars.
Family was the most important part of his life. Ellie was his devoted wife of over 48 years. He was also very close to his son Bennett and his wife Joy, his son David and his wife Gwen and his son Andy and Ellen Milgrim. Mort was the very much loved "Pops" to his seven grandchildren - Davielle, Harrison, Michael, Kirsten, Max, Ezra & Isaac.
Mort worked until the last weeks of his life alongside his three sons. He always looked at Tioga as his fourth child and his Tioga employees as part of his extended family.
Mort was a strong supporter of various charities and was a founding member of the Tioga Foundation had a particular connection to the Jewish Federation of Philadelphia, the JCC & the Israel Oceanographic and Limnological Research Institute.
